You are THIS and you're not THAT.

You are THIS and you're not THAT.
The first thing I do after meeting with any new client is to jot down what I think THEY ARE and what THEY ARE NOT.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s an existing business or one just starting out, these initial thoughts help me to understand their brand’s core characteristics, as I see them, after just one interaction with the business.
It’s a way I challenge myself to see how accurate my perception of a brand is verse reality and becomes something I refer back to, as my journey with the brand evolves.
Give it a try yourself, set aside 30 minutes and jot down your brand’s core characteristics, as you see them now.
Start with: “we are…” followed by “we are not…”
See what sort of list you come up with and make sure you date it, because your brand evolves as your business does. What you consider ‘you are’ today, might be very different to what you need to be in 12 months time.
The following example is for a new property investment company that I met with today and based on my first interaction with them, here’s my thoughts:
They are:
● Focused
● Analytical
● Crafted
● Niche
● Professional
● Dependable
● Trusted
● Progressive.

They’re not:
● Basic
● Casual
● Effortless
● Conventional
● Experimental
● Aggressive.
